I weighed in at work this morning and I'm down 2lbs in the challenge. Go me. I have 5 more to lose by May 2nd- just under 4wks. The pot is now $100 since we got 10 people in on it and there's still the 1/2 day off if I meet my goal.
I can't tell you how much it burns me to sit and hear people complain about their weight and how they can't seem to lose anything...while they're eating Steak-n-Shake fries and dipping them in cheese sauce. I'm not kidding. Yesterday I sat around the lunch table eating my ground turkey and spagetti squash while every other woman was eating KFC or Steak-n-Shake. Now, I don't care what everyone else eats, that's their body and their life. But it above drove me up the wall to hear each of them complain about their weight while shoving greasy fried foods down their throats. I also heard from a couple of them "This is all I'll eat all day yet I still can't lose". Hmmmmm, maybe b/c your body is holding onto every morsel you shovel in, thinking it could be the last. Their metabolisms are probably CRAWLING. If asked, I would explain that their way of thinking is crazy, but everyone seems to think you can only eat a piece of celery and a rice cake to lose weight. It's frustrating how uneducated some people are on this subject. Up until about 2yrs ago, I didn't know much either. So I guess everyone needs a little help at first- but an open mind and good attitude is just as important, if not more. I think some people just aren't willing to do what it takes to lose weight. They aren't willing to workout or give up their burgers and fries for lean proteins with fruits and veggies. I can't even count the number of times people have stuck their nose up when I've said to eat more fruits and veggies. Like I'm telling them the only way to lose weight is so eat rotten eggs for every meal. It's just frustrating. The way I look at it is.....if you want something bad enough, you do what it takes to educate yourself on it and take the steps towards making it happen. It's all about how bad you want it.

You are so getting a $100 and 1/2 a day off!!! Way to go on the 2#.
I have to agree. I am starting a new challenge on Monday with about 8 other teachers who have never done bfl. I told them to read the book and go to the website and none of them have done it. They are asking me a million questions, which I don't mind but I read the book, several times and I read everything I can get my hands on and always have. I think people are looking for something easy or for someone to do it for them. Drives me crazy too but I want them to all succeed because it has helped me so much.
Wow...I agree with you completely, however, I am sometimes one of those people that skips meals. Not on purpose though, but I do know what it does to my metabolism. Sounds like you will definitely win this challenge!
I have the same gripe. I see ut all the time... Complain about the weight, SWEAR that it's genetic, but watch them eat more than full days caloric intake in one meal... Hellooooo???? And the thing that gets me is that these people are very well educated. I guess they missed nutrion day when being educated.
By the way, nice job with your challenge!!! You rock! I think the $100 has your name on it!
amen sistah girl!
Don't worry, proof is in the puddin'. If you loose weight, they will come and ask questions but there will always be the ones who hear you but don't listen.
You got it girl! No matter how much you try to educate other people, it means nothing without an open mind. People ask me how I achieved my weight loss and when I tell them, they're like "What? That doesn't make sense!" They complain about how they need to lose weight but yet they won't give up fatty food. Uh, hello!!!!!
Here I am!! See, see I'm still reading. Yeah, I love to see what the people I work with eat. They start talking about lunch around 10:30. They order out every single day. In the 14 years I have been there I think I may have ordered take out maybe 5 times. And it's been years since I've ordered with them. Oh, silly me, I go and work out at lunch.
Yep that $$ has SOOOO got your name on it girl!
Go Melissa, go Melissa! I can see you jumping up and down 'cause you won!!!! You are so right. I can complain and complain about being fat and then sit down and eat a slice of pizza. What the hell is that all about??? DUH! Thanks for clearing it up for me. :)
Great commentary, Melissa. Unfortunately, when you win - they will say it's because you are younger than the rest of them (I am assuming you are...). That's another great excuse for being overweight - AGE.
ok Missy. it is 4/22.... report in!
That is SO true.
you are among the missing! What happened? Jack Bauer get you? And what is with the Portuguese months over there.....? Voce fala portugues? Eu morei in Brazil para cinco anos e tenho muitos saudades.
Oh Melissa!!! Where are you???? We really miss you!!!! I'm not doing my greatest right now, that's why I'm not updating as much as I was. Hope you're still kickin' some booty! If not let's give each other a good ole kick in the behind to get us going again. Whaddaya say?
