I'm happy to say everything this week is going great. I was hesitant to post about my eating, because it seems like once I do, I start to slip. I'm feeling good though, so I'm going to anyway. I haven't had any binges and my eating has been right on. I've omitted starchy carbs from the last 1/2 of the day and since reading Jennifer's post, I've stopped eating after 6pm. Well, my last meal of the day is at 6pm. She's so right about feeling lean the next morning. I swear I actually have nice abs in the morning! LOL

On August 8th, I'll be driving down to TN and staying with a friend. We're hoping Jon's flight gets in sometime within that next week. I'll be there until Labor Day weekend and then we'll be coming back to IA, then back to TN again until around Sept 20th. Jon & I leave for Chicago on the 23rd and our flight leaves for St. Lucia that next morning. August & September are going to be so busy, but I look forward to every minute of it.
Good news on the VS clothing, I've finally received it, and I love it all! The brown dress only came in size Medium and it is a little big especially in the chest area (damnit) but with a nice padded strapless bra, it works. The sandals are cool but are going to give me blisters I can tell. I ordered 2 tanks also and absolutely LOVE THEM. They both have sequins, I can't quite describe them, but one is going to look so good going out for dinner or something, very sexy. I can thank the ever so wonderful Donna for the tanks, since she gave me a VS giftcard for my bday. SHE ROCKS!!!
I've got a question for the BFL'ers out there. Think about when you first started BFL. Have you noticed that since then, you find yourself being so much more strict with dieting and with your workouts? I don't know if it's just me or if other people have noticed this too. I used to eat out of the EFL book daily and just worry about eating 6x/day. Now, it's like I want to eat for a competition or something but the problem is I can't handle that type of diet. Helloooooo Melissa you're not competing, don't expect to be able to eat like that. I try to then when I can't I get discouraged & of course that leads to a binge. I remember being able to eat SF jello and not worry about it being a processed food. I remember eating a banana without worrying about the amount of sugar in it. It's a piece of fruit! WTF? I don't know, sometimes I think I just need to cool it and cut myself some slack. Only problem is, when I do that, I think it means I can eat trail mix & pb all day long.

glad to hear things are going well. you will have to do some modeling of your vs clothes!! Have a great week.
Since I first began BFL over 6 years ago, my nutrition has gone from the standard BFL guidelines, not because I've become lazy or more strict, but because my nutrional needs have changed based on my goals, such as running in events longer than 5K. When I'm training for an event I have to be aware of the kinds of carbs I'm taking in because it has an effect on my performance. Not enough quality carbs and nutrition = a poor and sluggish run. Same thing with protein. I need quality protein for the recoup after the long run. I've also learned to accept the weight fluctuations that come with training. I know that it's going to be okay if I gain 10 pounds when carb loading. That's just the way it is for me. I also no longer beat myself up if I go off plan because, in the bigger picture, I eat clean most of the time and I'm the healthiest I've ever been. The BFL way of life is always there, such as the 6 small meals a day and the ratios, serving sizes, etc... but I've learned to not be so obsessed with it and have fun. :) It took me time, though. Perhaps your mind-set is competitive and, perhaps, it's something you might want to think about. You're already thinking like a competitor... You seemed very determined! I guess the free meals/free days are to feed that need to eat what every you want, just so you don't get too regimented. Did that make sense?
Nice that the dresses are GOOD...VS Lucky girl & wonderful Donna!!! .we are still waiting for pics you know!!! ;P
reference what Drives you--- I understand... I am sure it has been tuff on you having him gone for a year... I am sure when he gets home you will look AWESOME!!!!

Glad the after 6 thing is working for you. It takes a couple of nights to get into it, but worth is when you wake up feeling nice and lean.
Also give yourself a break. Remember that this fitness lifestyle is for life and it takes time to find the balance.
I look forward to your pictures and I am excited that you get to see your husband! You are going to have so much fun and look beautiful.
OH! Trail mix, my very fav. I am with you on the diet thing. I learned so much from BFL but I too would stress out about trying to get in 6 meals a day. I catch myself worrying about the sugar in fruit and my beloved sweet potatos being to starchy. I have not eaten after 6pm this week at all. I have to say it was hard at first and I felt very hungry but if I just drink a bottled water it seems to be fine. I am so stinking hungry in the morning though. My belly button is saying HELLO to my backbone but you are right, abs are great in the morning and this is the first time in a long time I have been in the 120 zone.
You will have to take pictures of your new clothes. The dress sounds beautiful and you will knock em dead in it I am sure!
I've been thinking the same way about bananas lately...as in too many carbs. It is fruit!?!? So it's crazy. I had watermelon the other day and freaked because I didn't know it carb-licious. I just got my order from VS too! See my blog.
Melissa, I love what Irene wrote. She really has a great perspective and we get to see her living it successfully. I hope to one day be where she is at with her knowledge and experience.
I think you are well on your way.
Can you still order the other brown dress in a small?
Glad the outfits are good. Your hubby is gonna be ALL over you when he gets back!
