Sorry I have been in such a blog funk lately. Just haven't felt like I have a whole lot to say I guess, lol! I will try to get back with it. Things have been a little crazy around here lately so my computer time has been limited. It just seems like during the past few days I had one headache after another. I think everything is settling down now, whew!
Today was day #3 of this latest challenge. The first couple days I found myself wanting to eat something sugary, but resisted. I knew it was going to take some time to get the sugar out of my system. Sunday was a doozie so I knew Monday would be hard. Well Monday morning I woke up and took all my measurements and will take them weekly. According to an online site, my BF is currently at 21.6% which is lower than I thought. It's still a good 3.6% from my goal but definitely doable. Today I went grocery shopping and stocked up on all kinds of healthy foods. I cooked up a big batch of turkey chili b/c a recipe I'd heard about was really tempting me. I'm not sure how the ratios work out, but I figure it can't be too bad. I bought all "no salt added" diced tomatoes and tomato sauce, and the rest is pretty much just veggies and 99% FF ground turkey. Tonight for dinner I had 1c with 1/2c of cottage cheese mixed in. I'd heard about this on tracker- not too shabby and I figured it would just up the protein. Anyone have any idea how the ratios would work out on this?
My workouts have been going great. To sum it up, I'm doing cardio 6x/wk and lifting 4x/wk. M, W, & F I will do apprx 40min of cardio. T & Th will be interval training, 20-30 min. Saturday I will do one long run, apprx 60min. I'm trying to do all cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. I'm working each bodypart 2x/wk.
Splits look like this:
Chest
Shoulders
Tris
Abs
Legs
Back
Bis
Calves
It seems to be going well, but then again I'm only on day 3. I'll re-evaluate my workouts every 4wks to see what kind of progress I am making. If everything is going well, I won't fix what isn't broken. If the fat is coming off a little slower than I'd like, I'll up the cardio and check my diet. The diet is the hardest for me. It seems like my hands really want to reach for something in the late afternoon. The key for me is to prepare something before I think of an excuse as to why I must eat something bad just because it sounds good.
I'm going to post results every Sunday about the previous week. I figure this will make me accountable and I won't want to come here and explain why I felt I had to cheat or miss a workout.
To sum it up, 3 days down and I'm feeling a lot more energy stirring around. My tummy feels tighter and less bloated. The more water in, the more water out!! I'm finally feeling back in control of my body.

yes, the blog funk has hit. glad to see you back. I am excited to hear how things progress for you. That is a great idea for posting your weekly comments regarding how things are going. Great way to stay accountable. Do you recommend reading BFFM??
Amy, YES!! I think he goes into a lot more detail than BFL and it's great for those of us who need something more. He goes into a lot of detail regarding foods, workouts, etc. very informative!
Thanks for the info. I will have to look into it.
Wow look at all those workouts you will drop the BF in no time.
Glad to see you're back. You sound great. Send some of that motivation this way, won't ya?
That turkey chili sounds yummy. But with cottage cheese? Hmmmm. I've tried the EFL chili recipe, here's the nutrition stats for it- I can check the ingredients tonight if you want to compare:
Dad's Great Green Chili
Avg M F
Calories : 343 429 257
Protein : 36 45 27
Carbs: 41 51 31
Fat : 2 3 2
Ditto on the blog funk. I'm slowly getting back into it.
I too need to drop some body fat. I have BFFM but haven't read it yet. Maybe it's the way to go for me too.
I made turkey chili before and loved it! I browned the turkey then cooked it in a slow cooker. Yummy! I don't know what the nutrient ratios are, but I figured it can't be that bad. I've never tried it with cottage cheese though. I guess it makes sense to use it instead of sour cream.
