Going the BFFM way

Looks as though I need to update this blog. I think it's safe to say I took the week off after the 20k. I didn't go on any binges or anything, but my eating wasn't 100% clean. I was so sore for the next 3 days after the run and ended up taking the whole week off. I can't believe I went the entire week without working out! There were a couple longer walks but that's about it. This weekend was cold and rainy. I hate this weather, it just makes me want to stay indoors. No I didn't spend the week on the couch eating twinkies and watching Oprah. I've been trying to read everyone's blogs and stay in the loop, but I haven't been commenting much or posting (obviously). All is well, I do have a plan!! Now that the 20k is over and I'm not preparing to run any long distance races, I'm going to focus more on getting lean for the trip in September. And I'm going to do it BFFM style.
I'm writing out new goals and going through what my diet will be looking like. I really want to focus each week and would like to reach around 18% BF. I hate that I don't have a gym available for the different machines, but I do have dumbbells and the great outdoors at my fingertips. This means that most, if not all, of my cardio will come from running, but I will mix it up between longer runs, interval workouts, and speed drills. It's time to start waking up early again, before Aiden is up. Once he's awake it's so difficult to get out to run. If I get it done before everyone is up, there's nothing to get in my way, no excuses. Now it's time for me to get serious about my diet. I really need to focus and realize that every day and every bite counts. My diet is my biggest challenge by far.
This was just a quick update. I'll try to post more soon and go into more detail about what I'm doing. Tomorrow morning I'll be taking measurements and photos. I like the structure of a "challenge: week-by-week", so I'll be doing that and going by BFFM. Our flight leaves for the Caribbean September 24th. Time to get serious about the way I want to look on that beach.

You do need that time off to recoup. Your body isn't used to running 20K on a regular basis, so this down time is extremely important. When you get back to working out you'll be so glad you rested. You might even have better workouts! It's like you're recharging your batteries!

What is BFFM? I need to do the same as you and start getting up early in the mornings to run. I know I would feel so much better starting my days that way.

Looking forward to hearing more about your plans. I have to say though that from all of the pics you have posted, I think you already look great! So I guess you'll be going from great to greater :)

Oh sorry! To clarify, BFFM is Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle by Tom Venuto. I really think this will help me lean down. We shall see!!

Sounds like a plan. I do better if I have a main goal in mind, I think that is what I need to do, have a goal or a plan. Anything...

BFFM is a great program. I have also used Tom's workouts too. Don't despair about the gym. YOu can accomplish A LOT without one. Just get creative.
You already look great so anything you do now is going to be icing on the cake!

You deserve the week break. Your body needs time to recuperate.

Good luck on BFFM! From what I read, it looks like great program.
